Why Newborns

The newborn stage is fleeting those first days fly by in a blur. My sessions are designed to slow time down, capturing the tiny details, soft snuggles, and overwhelming love you’ll never want to forget.

With a calm, baby-led approach, I create timeless, colorful portraits in a cozy studio space so you can relax and simply enjoy being together.

As a newborn photographer serving Tumbler Ridge and Central Alberta, I specialize in creating warm, natural, and beautifully styled images of your baby’s earliest days.

With a calm, baby-led approach and a focus on safety, I guide you through every step of the experience so you can relax and simply enjoy the moment.

A Calm & Comfortable Experience

Your baby’s safety and comfort always come first. Sessions are slow-paced and completely baby-led, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and snuggles.

I provide everything needed for your session—including wraps, blankets, and simple, timeless setups—so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

When should you book?

The best time to book your newborn session is during your pregnancy to ensure availability.

Sessions typically take place within the first 5–14 days after birth, when babies are sleepiest and easiest to gently pose.

To provide a calm, personalized experience, I only take on a limited number of newborn sessions each month.

Booking early is recommended to secure your spot.

FAQ

When is the best time to book my newborn session?

I recommend booking during your second or early third trimester to secure your spot. We’ll pencil in your due date, and once your little one arrives, we’ll finalize the session date (ideally within the first 5–14 days).

How old should my baby be for the session?

Newborn sessions are best within the first two weeks of life when babies are still very sleepy and flexible. That said, I happily photograph older newborns too — the images may just look a little different (more awake time, more stretches, and still just as sweet!).

What if my baby doesn’t “cooperate”?

No worries at all! Every baby is unique. Sessions are completely baby-led, with plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, and soothing. I never rush, and we’ll take breaks whenever needed.

Do I need to bring outfits or props?

Nope! My studio is fully stocked with wraps, props, and a few client closet dresses. You’re welcome to bring sentimental items (blankets, heirlooms), but otherwise I’ll take care of styling everything for you.

Is your studio safe for newborns?

Yes! Safety is my top priority. I use safe posing techniques, keep the studio comfortably warm, and sanitize everything between sessions. Your baby will always be handled with care.

Do you offer in home lifestyle sessions?

Yes! While I love the cozy feel of studio sessions, I also offer in-home lifestyle newborn sessions. These are perfect if you’d like to capture your family in the comfort of your own space, surrounded by the little details that make your home yours. Lifestyle sessions are less posed and focus more on natural connection, cuddles, and the everyday beauty of welcoming your baby home.
